The Public Authority’s Mentorship Program takes a solutions-based approach and serves Consumers within a culture of empathy and encouragement. The Program helps the community receiving IHSS PA services navigate the IHSS system, find stable home care providers, and connect to community resources that promote and support independent living throughout San Francisco.
This position leads the development and delivery of practical, accessible learning opportunities for the IHSS community. The Coordinator identifies learning needs, develops curriculum and training materials, facilitates individual and group learning, and helps the community build the knowledge and skills needed for safe, respectful, and successful working relationships.
Training responsibilities are central to the role; however, the Coordinator may also be assigned a flexible caseload based on program needs. Cases may include referrals from internal and external programs/facilities. The Community Engagement and Training Coordinator assesses Consumer needs and creates an individualized support plan. The Registry Counselor plays a critical role in the IHSS Public Authority's Provider Registry, a referral service that supports the IHSS program by helping eligible consumers find independent home care providers to deliver their authorized in-home supportive services. The Registry serves as a bridge between consumers who need assistance to remain safely in their homes and providers who are available to perform IHSS services. The Registry Counselor identifies consumers' needs, preferences, and service requirements and refers them to appropriate providers. As the primary point of contact for new consumers, the Registry Counselor guides them through the intake process, provides information about IHSS and Registry services, and helps facilitate successful provider-consumer matches. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, empathy, and a professional demeanor to provide a compassionate, professional, and welcoming experience for consumers, even in challenging situations.
