Insurance

Medical Plan

Today, most IHSS independent providers (IP's) in San Francisco who authorized to work and paid for two consecutive months (and for at least 25 hours in one of those months) become eligible to apply for a full medical plan called HealthyWorkers. To learn more about HealthyWorkers, visit the website of the San Francisco Health Plan.

Dental Plan

Independent providers (IP's) are eligible for dental insurance if they are authorized to work in the most recent six consecutive months and have been paid for at least 25 hours each month.

Detailed information is mailed to all workers at the time of eligibility. To request more information or inquire about enrollment, contact the Benefits Coordinator at (415) 593-8125.

Losing Your Medical or Dental Plans

Your HealthyWorkers plan will be terminated if you are not authorized to work and have not been paid for three consecutive months.

Your dental plan will be terminated if the state computer system does not show you as having worked three consecutive months for at least 25 hours per month.

If you have any questions regarding a termination, please contact the Benefits Coordinator at (415) 593-8125.

IHSS represents to my son and I, the most important thing, given that since we have received it, it has supplemented, thanks to God, all our household needs and we feel blessed. My son is 30 years old and in a wheelchair, he does not speak, has limited comprehension and is like a baby. He suffers from daily epileptic convulsions, needs 24 hour care and I, as his mother, provide it to him, but I can only count on the assistance that IHSS provides, so I can stay home to care for him
