Participants in the Health and Safety portions of the Worker Training Program learn information about a variety of home care topics, including: Blood Borne Pathogens, Hazards on the Job, Ergonomics and Back Injury Prevention, Chemical Hazards, Violence in the Workplace, Elder Abuse Awareness, and Mandated Reporting.

| Homecare Workshops

The Public Authority conducts two workshops a month on various homecare-related topics. Both workers and consumers are welcome to attend the free workshops.

| Community Events

Throughout the year, the Public Authority participates in community events throughout San Francisco. At street fairs, parades, carnivals, or job fairs, the Public Authority table is often a place where people from various communities can find answers to their home care questions.

| Conference 2003

"Where there's a Will, there's a Way" is the name of the Public Authority's Consumer Conference. In September 2003 at our 4th conference, attendance broke previous records. Over 50 San Francisco agencies participated in our resource fair, and over 600 IHSS consumers attended with friends, family and/or their IHSS home care worker.
